Author’s Note: This story was inspired by the idea that a guy could be so mean that his very meanness would take on a life of its own. From there it just seemed obvious that putting him in a good mood would diffuse the situation. It amuses me that Joe Meany was never fired, no matter what trouble he caused, and pops up in other stories from time to time.
